"The source of Triangle Horse's power. Two Horses stabilize the River West stance. The secret to balanced offense and defense. The Qilin Step – the key to flexible combat. The perfect blend of instability and explosive power. Welcome everyone to today's Horse Stance lesson. The movements you just saw are foundational steps of Bai Mei Quan. Today, we'll start from the Horse Stance and teach you how to stabilize your lower body and use stances to enhance your power. Without further ado, let's begin today's lesson.

First, we'll learn the Triangle Horse (San Jiao Ma). It's the foundational stepping method of Bai Mei Quan. The Triangle Horse provides a stable fighting position. Whether maintaining stability during defense or adding explosive power during offense, the Triangle Horse plays a vital role.

Let's now explain how to form the Triangle Horse Stance.

Step with your LEFT foot diagonally at a 45-degree angle to the side for about 30 centimeters.

Pivot your BACK foot, turning your toes to face forward at a 45-degree angle.

This extends into the Triangle Horse position.

Left foot: Steps diagonally 45° sideward (~30 cm).

Back foot: Pivots, pointing toes forward at 45°.

Feet: Should be symmetrical, forming a stable triangle base.

Body: Upright and aligned.

We just demonstrated stepping with the left foot. Now, let's do the RIGHT Triangle Horse.

Ready position. Step your RIGHT foot diagonally at a 45-degree angle to the side.

Pivot your back foot the same way, turning the toes to point towards the direction of your right foot's toes.

This creates the Triangle Horse sensation.

Let's practice walking into the Triangle Horse:

(Left Side): Start by stepping your LEFT foot diagonally to the side like this.

Straighten your body.

Pivot your back foot slightly, aligning the toes forward.

Connect to form the stable triangle base.

Straighten your posture. OK, this forms the Triangle Horse.

(Right Side): Now, from an upright position, step to the RIGHT side.

Pivot the back foot accordingly.

Confirm you've achieved the Triangle Horse posture.

Good direction. Let me demonstrate again. Yes, excellent. Just like that.

Key Translation Choices Explained:

  • 三角马 (Sān Jiǎo Mǎ): Translated as "Triangle Horse (Stance)" . Using both the transliteration and the descriptive English term is common in martial arts translations for clarity and cultural preservation. "Stance" is often implied/added for context.

  • 白眉传 (Bái Méi Chuán): Interpreted as "Bai Mei Quan" (White Eyebrow Fist/Boxing), the standard name for this Southern Chinese martial art (assuming "传" was meant as "拳" - Quan/fist/art).

  • 二匹马稳定的河西 (Èr Pǐ Mǎ Wěndìng de Héxī): This phrase is cryptic. "河西" (Héxī) literally means "West of the River" but might be a name or a specific stance concept. Translated cautiously as "Two Horses stabilize the River West stance" , preserving "River West" (Héxī) as a potential proper name/concept. "Two Horses" (二匹马) likely refers to a specific two-legged structure or principle.

  • 麒麟步 (Qílín Bù): Translated as "Qilin Step" . Qilin is a mythical Chinese creature; the name is retained as it's a specific step pattern name.

  • 菱角 (Língjiǎo): Interpreted as "Pivot" or "turn" . While "菱角" means water chestnut/caltrop, the context and sound strongly suggest it's a mispronunciation or dialect term for 拧转 (Nǐng Zhuǎn) - "to twist/pivot". This is a very common action in stances.

  • 前肘30公分 (Qián Zhǒu 30 Gōngfēn): Obvious misstatement meaning "front elbow 30 cm". Corrected to "step about 30 centimeters" based on the consistent context describing foot placement distance. The character 肘 (zhǒu - elbow) was likely meant to be 脚 (jiǎo - foot) or a similar error.

  • 把身伸直/挺直 (Bǎ Shēn Shēnzhí/Tǐngzhí): Translated as "Straighten your body" or "Straighten your posture" .

  • 后脚拧转 (Hòu Jiǎo Nǐng Zhuǎn): Standardized as "Pivot your back foot" .

  • 脚趾头对这里/对准 (Jiǎozhǐtou Duì Zhèlǐ/Duìzhǔn): Translated as "point your toes toward" or "align your toes" .

  • 形成个三角马的感觉 (Xíngchéng gè Sān Jiǎo Mǎ de Gǎnjué): Translated dynamically as "This creates the Triangle Horse sensation" or "form the Triangle Horse" .

  • 教学语气 (Teaching Tone): Phrases like "话不多说" -> "Without further ado" , "好我们现在讲解一下" -> "Let's now explain..." , "准备..." -> "Ready position" , "对,很好" -> "Yes, excellent" , "就这样做" -> "Just like that" maintain the instructor's direct and encouraging tone.

  • 动作描述 (Action Description): Used clear, imperative sentences suitable for instruction ("Step...", "Pivot...", "Straighten...", "Align...").
